The Om Work Project Sends Inaugural Scholarship Recipient to India

The non-profit organization congratulates Rebecca Young on being chosen to embark to Goa, India to complete her Yoga Teacher Training.

VICTORIA, BC -  September 12, 2018 - The Om Work Project has chosen their first scholarship recipient and are in preparation to send 18-year-old Rebecca Young to Goa, India complete her Yoga Teacher Training in November.

The Om Work Project has partnered with Sarah Zandbeek and Julia Mccabe on their upcoming training with Breathe in Life, where Young will travel to study in Goa, India. Through fundraising and community events, The Om Work Project has raised the funds to provide Young with flights, accommodation, meals, and tuition.

Young is based out of Victoria, BC, and was chosen based on her application to the scholarship. The Om Work Project Team is currently guiding and mentoring her preparation so she is properly set up to complete her training.

“To be able to send Rebecca to her dream destination to be immersed in the place where yoga originated is so special. We are excited for how she will grow, learn, and spread her light,” said CEO Nicole McLellan.

Key partners in the support of the development of The Om Work Project are Burnette and Co., Shanti Collective, Lole, lululemon, Quartermoon Crew, Brotherhood Life, Robyn Unwin Media, and The Victoria Yoga Conference, along with numerous other local businesses. The community has rallied around this opportunity to give young women the chance to pursue alternative education, travel, and a chance to spread her light to the world. This is the first of many opportunities to bring together the Victoria community to provide opportunities to young women through yoga.

“This year, an abundance of growth is happening in my life, and my trip to India to learn yoga, discover myself and explore a new place is exactly what I need to finish off the year on a strong note,” said recipient, Rebecca Young.

Created and founded by educator, yoga teacher, and author Nicole McLellan in 2017, The Om Work Project works to empower young women through the gift of education and travel in their Yoga Teacher Training. A new non-profit, the team has grown to a group of five women passionate about providing opportunities. The non-profit works to provide events and yoga for the city of Victoria. Recipients are set up with the skills and tools to help their community.
