International Yoga Day: June 21, 2019

Join us for a movement practice from 11-12pm and stay for refreshments and connection!

On December 11th 2014, the United Nations proclaimed June 21st to be the International Day of Yoga. The Om Work Project team will be teaching a 60 minute gentle all-levels yoga practice (no experience necessary) to celebrate the ancient system of yoga. Practice will take place outside in the courtyard of Market Square.

Long before it was International Yoga Day, June 21st marked National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day for Canadians to recognize, celebrate and honour the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21st, the summer solstice, for National Indigenous Peoples Day.

We are privileged to practice and learn on this land.

About the Victoria Period Project:

Our mission is simple: increase the accessibility of menstrual products for youth in need living in Victoria, British Columbia. To do this, we provide youth facing barriers with free and reliable menstrual products of their choice, every month. By overcoming these issues of cost, availability, and choice, we hope that these youth will have one less thing to worry about.
